There are many ways to cut out an image in Photoshop. Either you can use Magic Wand Tool or Quick Mask or Lasso Tool. In this tutorial we are showing you how to cut out an image using Magic Wand Tool.
Steps to cut out an image in Photoshop
Step 1: Open the Photoshop program.
Step 2: Next, open an image on which you want to cut out an image. To open image, select File >> Open and select the file you want to open. Then click on the Open button.
Step 3: Select Magic Wand Tool (Shortcut – W). If it not shown then keep pressing on it untill you see Magic Wand Tool and select it. Then slowly make selection around image by clicking on it. The lower the value of tolerance it matches exactly with the color. For eg, if I set Tolerance to 0, then it won’t include any pixels in the clicked area except those that are an exact match in color and tone. Hold Shift and keep clicking on the area until you get the whole selection.
Step 4: Next, from the menu bar click Select >> Inverse
Step 5: Right-click on the image and select Feather.
Step 6: Next, set Feather Radius to 10 pixels and click on the OK button.
Step 7: Next, press delete from the keyboard. Then select ‘Background Color’ from the Use dropdown and click on the OK button.
Step 8: Finally, your output should look similar to this. That are the complete steps to cut an image in Photoshop.
If you are using Magic Wand Tool make sure you set Tolerance higher or lower depending on the color you would like to select.
