Sometime you may want to test pages with SSL enabled like https://ulancer.com in your localhost. Usually SSL are used for pages where payment is involved for security. In this tutorial, we are showing you how to enable ssl in Xampp.
Steps to enable ssl in Xampp
Step 1: First of all open Computer >> C: drive and then open Xampp folder. Your path might differ depending on where you have installed Xampp. All you have to do is, locate xampp folder.
Step 2: Next, open the php folder and inside it, you will find php.ini file. Double click on it to open it.
Step 3: Next, search for line ‘extension=php_openssl.dll‘. You may use find option by clicking Edit >> Find (or press Ctrl+f) to search the line. Check whether semicolon (;) is added or not. If semi colon is added then ssl is disabled. If semi colon is not added then it is enabled. If there is no semi colon added then leave it as it is. SSL is already enabled. If there is semi colon remove the semi colon. Just incase if you couldn’t find this line, just insert “extension=php_openssl.dll” below Windows Extensions section in your php.ini but before adding this line check whether ssl is already enabled or not by opening https://localhost in any browser. If ssl is enabled then the page loads and in that case you shouldn’t edit anything in php.ini file. That are the complete steps to enable ssl in Xampp.
Usually in sites with shopping carts, online banking you will see SSL enabled. The page URL starts with https:// You will find ssl errors if ssl is not enabled.
